The
Hurricane Electric
colocation facilities at the
760 Mission Court address
in Fremont is Hurricane's
first Fremont colocation
facility thus they refer to it
as Fremont-I. This
facility is a large and well
connected facility centrally
located in the San Francisco
Bay Area. It is just a
few minutes north of San Jose
and south of Oakland.
There are a lot of easy ways
to get there as 880 Fwy., 237
Fwy., and 680 Fwy. all
intersect in Fremont.
When I drove to the Fremont
facilities from the San
Francisco peninsula I have
taken the Bay Bridge or the
Dumbarton Bridge.
Parking there is easy since
Hurricane owns the whole
facility and the parking lot.
Hurricane Electric is one of
the largest and fastest
Internet Backbone networks and
colocation providers in the
world. They have an all fiber
optic OC192 Internet network
which is advanced technology
with the most reliable and
fastest network equipment.
Because the Fremont-I
colocation facility is so
popular it recently filled to
near maximum capacity.
It houses many companies
colocation including Hewlett
Packard, BMW, Pizza Hut, Jamba
Juice, Baskin Robbins, and
many other Fortune 500
companies. They house
many radio stations, Internet
TV, and software companies
collocated equipment.
This is really a premier site
to be at.
This colocation facility is
great for many reasons
including the liberal cross
connect policy.
Hurricane allows cross
connects between customer
cabinets with no monthly fee.
This alone can thousands of
dollars on a colocation
contract. Another great
benefit is that they include
their awesome 24/7 On-Site
Remote Hands service with all
of their contracts free at
this location. They tend
to include everything that you
need - they don't nickel and
dime you for things like ip
addresses, instead they
include unlimited ip addresses
with the service at no
additional charge.
I got into their facility on
one of their great specials
that included the power and
the full secure locking
cabinet with the Remote Hands
service for only $400/month
which is a really good deal in
this industry. When I
needed a lot of bandwidth they
had a great deal for 100Mbps
or bandwidth on a 1,000Mbps
Gigabit Ethernet.
One thing that I liked best
about the Hurricane Electric
Fremont-I Facility was that
when I installed my VOIP
server and gateway the phone
service cross connects did not
cost as much as my old
provider - because HE does not
charge a cross connect fee for
phone lines (they also do not
charge a monthly cross connect
fee for any other standard
type of line, that I know of,
within their colocation
facilities).

Hurricane's newest Fremont
colocation facility. It
is a large 208,000 square feet
and is probably the largest
state-of-the-art colocation
facility in the Silicon
Valley/ Bay Area. This
facility has all the best
technical amenities that you
expect from the very best
colocation data centers.
This a great site for anyone
who's company's colocation
needs are growing. They
have great deals on colocation
space such as their Full Rack
deal mentioned in the
Fremont-I review above, or
their deals for bandwidth from
1Mbps to large bandwidth deals
on a 10Gbps (10,000Mbps)
Internet bandwidth connection.
They have some real nice deals
for full suites that can
include 45 to 300 Full
Cabinets each. If you
need onsite office space with
the suite, they can include
this with the suite for your
technicians to have an office
to work out of.
Having worked with many
colocation facilities,
overall, because of the
network, responsive 24/7
On-Site Remote Hands Service
and other site benefits, I
would have to say that this
facility is one of the best
colocation facilities in the
United States.
